Some great tips! In terms of #4, I'd recommend (1) optimizing your site for organic traffic and also (2) considering some paid search ads (Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing, Microsoft adCenter).

In terms of the organic side, some easy things you can do:
-Add relevant "meta" information: title including the keywords you're targeting, meta description, meta keywords.
-Make sure all images have valid alt tags.
-Make sure to leverage all of the different formatting options available: h1, h2, h3, strong, em, etc.
-Include the keywords you're targeting throughout you site's content, especially the titles and headings. However, don't go overboard (the search engines will not like you if it appears you're trying to "stuff" too many keywords in your articles)!

In terms of the paid search side, why not start out buying some lower volume "long tail" queries related to your niche. The traffic will be cheaper and the volume lower. However, if you don't have a big budget, this could be a great way to get some initial traffic to your site.
