Stickies.org – Hand Registration Product Domain Story

Available Domains, Domain Development
|
Two weeks ago, I was sitting in my apartment searching for product domains… I decided to see what I have on my table and put the keywords in “Google Keywords Tool”.
I had a pack of Sticky Notes, so I searched the keywords in Google Keywords Tool and I discovered that one of the highest term is “Stickies” with 22,200 exact searches a month on Google.
I searched to see what extensions are available and I saw the .org is available for registration.
I decided to make some affiliate research and advertisement options, eventually I register the domain “Stickies.org“.
When I develop domains, I like to use .org because I think this extension is great for development and the search engines like it.
Like YogurtMaker.com, I decided to develop the domain on DevHub.com, I still need to put a logo and some affiliate links and text but you can get the big pic.
Now, my task is to rank on Google first page for the term “Stickies”.
I think this is a nice “hand one word registration”, also I think its a nice investment ($7.50 for the domain + development costs are zero, just 2 hours of my time).
Great week for everyone !

Hey Arbel,
First off I would like to commend you on the strategy that you have outlined here. It is similar to the one that I use as well. Now the main concern I have for the site you have created is the percentage you will actually receive from the affiliate programs.
Something tells me that you will have to sell a great deal of sticky notes to get a decent commission. Especially with the devhub platform. Has the devhub platform helped you with ranking in google? I am curious as I tried the platform and didn’t know if it would help or hinder my google ranking.

Looks good!
My only suggestion is to add some more unique content. I think it plays a big part in ranking high in Google.
Have a good one!

@Pimp – Jason, I am doing that because its better then parking… It is a very quick development platform and I am using my own affiliate links and AdSense…
I discovered that DevHub rank very well in Google and Its very easy to operate.
I agree that I will not be rich from that, but when it will be in Google Page 1, for sure it will have some revenue and its much better than a regular domain that dont have backlinks or search engine ranking.
Thank You for the comment – Pimp

@Jake – Hi Jake , Thank you for the comment… I totally agree with you…
I mention it in my post – “Like YogurtMaker.com, I decided to develop the domain on DevHub.com, I still need to put a logo and some affiliate links and “text” but you can get the big pic.”

Arbel,
Awesome story! Thanks so much for sharing, very inspirational stuff. I agree with your perspective on .org sites. Not only do search engines like them, but I personally believe they have good conversion rates because .org inspires confidence in the user. This TLD has a “nonprofit” history which can inspire users to really “trust” the site and convert.
Best,
Ian

Interesting way of discovering this as we twitter exchange each other couple times on this.
I do something similar but I go room by room at times. Don’t do it often but that’s how I discovered cashmere from my wife and grabbed couple nice niche plays and .com. Then I saw work out shorts from her.
Amazing what your house offers or appartment when considering a hand reg name.
If anything your adsense revenue will be ok and its your right you will make more then parking. An 8 dollar domain and if you generate 50 dollars for a year that is over 6 times your cost. A good roi. People may laugh at this but wouldn’t you rather make 50 dollars then have it parked and make zero?
I own couple .org commerce related names but haven’t developed one yet. Org does place well on search.
Cheers and keep us posted. Focused more on building traffic up then revenues. That comes later.
Your on the right track.

Also I notice you own a buy product name.com name
I own a few and powerful imo. People that look for items are most likely ready to buy or compare prices. Would be a fun test for you or I do a site development on this and see what we see with a keyword rich term and buy.
