I want to share with you an Article that publish today (Sunday) on the second largest newspaper in Israel, its called “Maariv”.

The Article is about the sale of Insure.com for 16 million dollar.

The reason i want to show you the article is there a lot of incorrect information about the Domaining Industry.

I Translate the article from Hebrew to English, so you can read and understand why people dont know anything about the Domaining industry.

The Internet site of the Chicago Tribune reported last week that QuinStreet paid for the Insure.com domain not less than 16 million dollars. This is a new world record, and it seems that what is perceived as a crazy hype and an integral part of the dot-com bubble of the end of the nineties, is coming back to us now big time.
The previews record was held until last week by the sex.com domain that was purchased for 12.5 million dollars. In a list that was published in Yahoo in 2008, the ten most expensive domains of all times until that year was presented. After sex.com the list included porn.com that was purchased for 9.5 million dollar. Afterwards the list included diamond.com that was purchased for 7.5 million dollars, and immediately after business.com that was purchased for exactly the same price.
It seems that also in Israel there is no fear to pay large sums for desired URL’s: not so long ago it was published that Jerusalem.com was purchased for more than 750 thousand dollars. But the astronomical sums that were invested in magnificent domains don’t leave much money to invest in the contents: those who surf to sex.com for example will discover that there is almost no relevant content in the site and that in fact it looks like a desolated landing page. The same is true for sites such as cameras.com, computers.com and even vodka.com.
Anyway, if you intend to swoop the net down to catch a free domain address in order to purchase it cheap and make some money – do not hurry. If you didn’t think about it at the beginning of the nineties, it is most likely that what you will succeed to catch in your net is occupied domains that were already purchased “second hand” and even third and fourth hand.
Currently a whole industry deals in the matter, and there are domain banks in the net that offer a catalog of active domains per area for immediate purchase. It seems that if you didn’t catch the wave 15 years ago – it will currently take you nowhere.
